March 2010

I will be speaking on the history of aprons at Aspen Ridge Retirement Community in Bend, Oregon on March 11, 2010 at 2:30. This is open to the public, so bring a friend and come and hear about those aprons that our grandmother’s wore. Aspen Ridge is located at 1010 NE Purcell Rd.

My first ever Sew a Little History class will take place March 16, 2010 in Sisters, Oregon. Looking forward to sharing wonderful stories about women and their aprons while we sew an apron inspired from the mid-twentieth century. For more information about my classes check out my web page.

From Grandma’s Cupboard...

Lamb and Goat Cheese Pizza

½ lb ground lamb
1 pre-baked 12" pizza crust
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 tsp chopped rosemary leaves
4 Roma tomatoes, thinly sliced
¼ cup chopped red onion
¼ cup sun dried tomatoes in oil, drained and chopped
¼ cup crumbled goat cheese
1/3 cup red bell pepper

Place pizza crust on pan. Brush with oil, sprinkle with rosemary and add layer of tomatoes; set aside. In skillet cook
onion in tiny bit of olive oil over medium-high heat for two minutes. Add lamb, cook and crumble until no longer pink.
Drin well and stir in dried tomatoes. Distribute over pizza crust. Sprinkle with cheese and bell peppers. Bake in 375

From Grandma’s Trunk...

If you ever run across a vintage pink apron there is a great chance that it’s from the 1950s. Pink kitchens were very
popular in the 1950s and having an apron to match your pink stove and refrigerator was oh so chic!

March is the beginning of spring. Hope it brings sunshine and flowers.
